The College
The RVS College of Nursing was started in 1993. The College is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and by the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai.
At the helm of the College, steering its academic and administrative set up was Emeritus Professor and Director of the College Mrs. G.Sigamany. The constant guidance of Mrs.H. Newman, Secretary, and RVS Educational Trust is an added support to the College.

1983      -    RVS EDUCATIONAL TRUST ESTABLISHED.
1993      -    RVS COLLEGE OF NURSING COMMENCED.
1993      -    AFFLIATED TO THE TAMILNADU Dr.M.G.R.MEDICAL UNIVERSITY.
1993      -    RECOGNITION BY TAMILNADU NURSES AND MIDWIVES COUNCIL,CHENNAI.
1999      -    NEW COLLEGE BUILDING IN HEALTH SCIENCE CAMPUS.
1999      -    RECOGNITION BY INDIAN NURSING COUNCIL,NEWDELHI.
2003      -    150 BEDDED MULTISPECIALITY HOSPITAL ,BUILT AT SULUR.
2004      -    RURAL MOBILE CLINIC IN FOUR VILLAGES STARTED.
2006      -    M.Sc NURSING DEGREE COURSE STARTED.
2006      -    DIPLOMA NURSING COURSE STARTED.
2006      -    ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFIED BY MOODY INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION Ltd.,MUMBAI.
2007      -    THE FORMATION OF ALUMINI ASSOCIATION.
2008      -    CONSTRUCTION OF NEW INDEPENDENT COLLEGE BUILDING.
2008      -    ENHANCEMENT OF SEATS FOR M.Sc NURSING COURSE.
2009      -    ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED BY TUV RHEINLAND.
2011      -    SHIFTING TO NEW INDEPENDENT COLLEGE BUILDING.
2013      -    INAUGURATION OF JOURNAL CLUB.
2014      -    INAUGURATION OF INSTITUTIONAL ETHICAL COMMITTEE.
2015      -    PUBLICATION OF PROCEDURE MANUAL.

M.Sc Nursing - Mission Statement
The Mission of the RVS College of Nursing is to equip the undergraduate nurses with advanced concepts and skills to function as effective Clinical practitioners to promote, restore and maintain health and wellness of individuals, families and communities in a variety of health care settings. Also to develop competence to function at a leadership level in health care services, education and research.

Scope of nursing
Our country today needs health care members who can render professional quality health care to the community at large. The Nursing programme prepares a nurse to meet this demand, which will continue to increase in the years to come. This ensures good job opportunities for the nurses in the community and hospital settings. A graduate nurse can take up a job in the following settings

The opportunity to pursue higher studies and Doctorate in Nursing is now open to a graduate nurse. The lack of nurses in developed countries like USA, Europe etc has opened the doors for Global placements for nurses in this decade.
